Beauty: NYX New Products

I've raved about NYX products before, I think they are of amazing quality and the pigments are true to color. I didn't want to name this post beauty on a budget because these products are great even when your splurging! They always have the perfect lip liner for any brand of lipstick.
NYX recently launched a few new products that are defiantly worth giving a try. My friend always yell at me for calling this line N Y X oppose to NYX :-)

Holiday Tidbits

My Fav Blog Of The Moment: Natural Belle

Today I stumbled across my favorite blog of the moment Natural Belle. I've been natural for 5 years and my hair has been through it all! Lately I been on the hunt for the best way to preserve my curl pattern. Baltimore winters are way to harsh for a wash and go so I press my hair weekly. On wash day I hopelessly run to the mirror only to find heat damaged pieces that require TLC.

Natural Belle serves up thousands of natural heads of hair that are an inspiration to a curly girl like me. Seems like I've been a little late to this party however, Natural Belle boost over 1500 readers. I'm a faithful reader now none the less.

Where I've been....

Wow I can't believe its been 3 months since I last blogged, time flies! So much has happen and changed in the past three months.

September 10th my 20year old sister suffered a massive stroke that left her paralyzed. She is making great progress but this is a marathon so there is a lot more work to be done.
Please keep her in your prayers.

My friends are definitely changing. Its always hard to loose a friend however its always a necessity when your friendship is doing more harm than good. Its something that we've all have gone through. You have to really weigh the pro's against the con's. Friends are suppose to be able to tell each other any and everything whether its good or bad.
Some people put a lot of work into their relationships with their significant others however they neglect their relationships with friends.
Nikole over at Moptop Maven posted an article recently expressing exactly how I was feeling.

"Like attracts like. It's no coincidence that the depression, unhappiness, and insecurity I felt at various points in my life attracted other people that were no better off than I was at the time."

Its so important to know yourself before you befriend someone. Their energy affects your life greatly. I'm not an insecure person so I couldn't have an insecure person in my circle.

"After giving myself a number of tune-ups and realigning with my true self, I started to attract people that were a mirror of me."

I'm constantly re-evaluating myself and making sure that I am the the best Nakira that I can be so why keep people around me who thinks less of me? One of my closest friends told me, people will show their true colors and  shut their own doors out of your life.
So, before 2010 over please take a minute to re-evaluate your relationships with friends.

On another note, one of my great friends and mentor Christina, whom I wrote about here a few time, released a trailer for her new documentary 100 percent. This past January Christina was officially cured of Sickle Cell Anemia. Now she is gearing up to move to London to study at Central Saint Martin whose alumni boost of names like Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, Zac Posen and the list goes on.

Yesterday, my lovely friend Charlee and her mother open the doors to her new salon,  Zalon Xpertise. We laughed, we drank, and Charlee did mani's and pedi's herself!

Its always exciting and a bit scary when entering a new chapter in your life. While I'm starting a new chapter much like my friends above, an important lesson that I'm learning is to demand just as much that your giving out. Don't let people suck you dry. The other day during an interview Will Smith said look at the 5 people closest to you. They are a reflection of you. Do you like that reflection? If not, you know what to do.

With one of the biggest night of fashion quickly approaching it is important that you have an itinerary. Now i understand that all of the festivities will cause you to loose focus a bit but I think I can help you enhance your experience!

1. Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen judge an open mike karaoke contest at Barneys. Other guest includes Daphne Guiness, Alexander Wang, and  Jack and Lazaro from Proenza.

2. Jason Wu will be selling his limited edition FNO dolls at Bergdorf Goodman. Victoria Beckham, Mary J Blige, Bryanboy, Tom Ford, Brian Antwood, and many more will also make an appearance.

3. Rachel Zoe will be offering styling tips at Piperlime's first ever pop-up shop.

4. 3.1 Phillip Lim, Gucci Westman, and Rag and Bone are teaming up to throw the ultimate block party.

5. Naomi Campbell will be at D&G

6. Rachel Roy will be offering styling tips and taking photographs at Macy's herald Square.

7. Andrea Leon Talley will be making a guest appearance at Ralph Lauren. While there enjoy a live performance by Janelle Monae.

9. Patricia Field will host Vogue's FNO wrap up party from 11p-1a at 302 Bowery.

Fashion Night Out: The Show

Last night Fashion Night Out: The Show, went down at the Lincoln Center in New York City. Sadly I was unable to go but I did come across some great pictures of the event. I was taunted by people twitting about the show lol.

From the amazing guest list  to the models arriving on the Fashion Night Out bus, the show was a huge hit and a great way to get everyone even more excited about MBFW and FNO.
